You also have to take this into account, that at least you wash your clothes and wash the dishes below the place, where do you get your drinking water from, other people may be camping downstream from your campsite.
■ Do not pitch the tent in one place for a long time. If you camped for longer, move the tent after some time, allowing the crumpled grass to grow back.
■ Don't cut trees and other plants without reason, only cut them off then, when you need material for the construction of a shelter.
■ If you find a campfire site at the campsite, use them, instead of starting a fire in a new place. Be careful, so as not to start a fire and not to cause a fire in the forest or undergrowth, especially in dry areas.
■ When closing the camp, burn all the rubbish.
■ When leaving the campsite, always fill the latrine and fire and remove all traces of your presence.

FOOD STORAGE

1 You may want to eat some of the cooked meal later. It should then be protected against insects, or other animals. Prepare a makeshift fabric container for this. Before that, place a plate in its center. Insect-proof food plate.
2 The material tied at both ends must be hung high on a branch. Food stored in this way is kept fresh for a short time. Metal cans can be cooled, digging them into the sand at the edge of a stream or river.
