Pemmican

Pemmican

Pemmican, a food concentrate used by North American Indians, has great nutritional value, it is easy to transport and store, convenient to use, although not particularly tasty. The composition of pemmicanu is as follows:
– beef tallow 33 proc.
– whole milk powder 20 proc.
– smoked bacon, dried – 17 proc.
– freeze-dried beef 10 proc.
– freeze-dried peas 8 proc.
– tomato concentrate 5 proc.
– wholemeal 2 proc.
– dehydrated potatoes (puree) – 2 proc.
– beer yeast 1 proc.
– black pepper 1 proc.
– salt – 0,5 proc.
– caraway seeds 0,5 proc.

Because pemmicanu is not for sale, you have to do it yourself, home way: cut the tallow into small cubes and simmer, until the water boils completely, and the fat will turn dark. Do the same with bacon. Add powdered milk, freeze-dried beef and tomato puree. Stir and add the rest of the ingredients; cut into pieces and store in waxed paper or aluminum foil.
