Types of tents

Some types of tents have been designed specifically for use in specific terrain conditions. The classic triangle tent is suitable for almost all conditions, but some modern structures, such as dome geodesic tent, they do much better than him in extreme situations – for example in high mountains, in gusty winds. Tents with external poles are much easier to erect, with a very strong brew, than the classic. On the other hand, masts or hoops composed of one pair turn out to be unstable in too gusty winds.

Dome tent
Tents of this type are perfect for high mountains or polar regions. You can increase their stability by digging them in the snow. However, you can only dig a tent in freshly fallen snow, which is not too heavy yet. Snow walls around a dug tent are the best protection against the wind.

Three-section tent-tunnel
The supporting structure of the tents-tunnels may consist of two or three hoops, with one large in the center and small ends. Three-section tunnels can accommodate two or three people. They are quite stable and easy to rain down on them. They usually have two entrances.

Triangular tent
The classic triangle tent can be pitched almost anywhere. In the most typical version, the supporting structure consists of two masts of equal length, connected by a rigid crossbar. Triangular tents are available in single and double versions, and multi-person.

Geodesic dome tent
These tents are strong, light and convenient to transport and easy to set up and fold. In strong winds they must be firmly attached to the ground, but their intersecting, bent masts ensure a stable structure. The construction of such a tent is based on external use, flexible masts intersecting at various distances from each other. The walls of the tent are attached to them in this way, that you no longer need to use guy lines. Due to the domed structure, this tent has a very spacious interior with high ceilings.

It is an intermediate solution between a dome and a triangular tent. The one-person version of this tent is very light and easy to set up, therefore it is ideal for globetrotters. The tunnel tent can be pitched both on grass, and the rocky valley floor. Its design resists strong winds effectively.

We can use it to cover a sleeping bag or, if it has additionally short masts, which allow you to set the vestibule, can replace tent mats. The camping cloth should be made of waterproof material, and at the same time "breathing", that is, sweat-permeable. The camping cloth can be used outdoors, even in heavy rain. The sheet can also be used as a spare sleeping bag.

Cover for a sleeping bag
It can be used as a waterproof cover for a sleeping bag, as well as an independent shelter that replaces a tent.
